Tucky in Shelter |
Tucky Today |
2000 ~ 2008
Tucky suddenly became seriously ill,
and we lost him, August 9, 2008.
We will forever love and miss our beloved Tucky.

The picture on the left is the
picture I saw
on the internet, March 25, 2002, that led to our
adopting Tucky the same day. The shelter
was calling him Sinatra because of his
beautiful blue eyes.

We adopted Tucky from the
Humane Society of Christian County Kentucky,
on March 25, 2002, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky
Little was known about Tucky's background.
He had been neutered and declawed when he was found,
so he probably had been someone's indoor pet. Sadly,
he was found in a very thin weak condition in the parking lot
of Kentucky Fried Chicken, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky,
by a volunteer of the Shelter.
Since
he was found at Kentucky Fried Chicken,
in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Kentucky seemed like a perfect name;
we call him Tucky.
Our home had been without the patter of little
kitty feet for almost three years. The loss of our two cats
within six months of each other had been very hard.
I am housebound, so the kitties were missed
all the more and time was not easing the pain and loss.
We decided to look into a possible adoption of a grown kitty.
Because of my energy limits, we needed a very quiet and
well-behaved kitty that could handle lots of attention!
We had such strict criteria of what a cat needed
to be like in order for it to work, it seemed like
a next to impossible search.

There is a wonderful website,
Petfinder where you can search
shelters online
in as large an area as you wish. The shelters describe the
animal and any history they have along with a picture of each
animal. For two weeks, I searched Petfinder daily,
looking at over 700 cats.
It was looking pretty hopeless and we were about to give up.
I decided one morning to look one more time, but somehow I made
a mistake and made a search out of the area I had been
searching in, and I came across a cat that sounded
perfect, and he was beautiful!
I was pretty excited, but then noticed he was from Kentucky!
My heart sank, but I put the address in a map search and found
that he was not really that far from us. I emailed Ed at work
and sent the picture of him, and he liked him too.
we wanted to meet Sinatra.
I called the phone number given for getting information,
and this very sweet lady, Molly, answered right away. She told me
how sweet this wonderful kitty was and how she could
not believe anyone could have abandoned him.
We arranged to see him that evening after Ed got home.
Molly met us at the shelter, and we were anxious to see how he
would take to us. She opened the cage and I stuck my face in to talk to
him and he raised his paw and put it on my cheek, bringing my
face to his and nudged it gently...my heart melted.
I stepped back and Ed put his face in the opening,
Tucky looked at him, raised his paw and put it on Ed's cheek,
brought his face to his and nudged his face too.
That did it, we knew he was the kitty for us.
